I hiked Runyon Canyon in Hollywood this past Saturday, March 19. It was my second time doing this hike, but in the past I had heard so much about it and wanted to experience it for myself. This hike is part of Runyon Canyon Park, which is located in the Hollywood Hills. This is one of the most popular hiking trails in Los Angeles, partly because it is dog friendly and in a popular location. There are several other areas of the 130 acre park including look outs and viewpoints over many different parts of Los Angeles, and various small walks and hikes.
I was surprised to see so many people hiking the trail at the same time I was. I realized that enjoying hiking is something that a lot of people in Los Angeles have in common. Whether it is for exercise, a type of therapy, a social outing, as a challenge, or just for fun, hiking has become more and more popular in the past several years. I have noticed that hiking has almost become some sort of trend in L.A. A big part of Los Angeles is very health conscious and body conscious, and hiking is a great way to get in a good workout while having fun. It is a way to change up your typical exercise routine, get outside, and enjoy it with friends. We are very lucky to have beautiful mountains to explore with our city right below. It was nice to get to the top and sit up there and just listen to the silence, seeing the busy city below.
